Human Rights at Sea International
Yashika was among the new Global Ambassadors introduced by the Human Rights at Sea International (HRASI) last 2025 to support its international human rights’ development around the world.
Through HRASI Founder and Executive Director, David Hammond and Lord Robin Teverson of the British House of Lords, Yashika was appointed as HRAS Global Ambassador for Southeast Asia to assist in driving forward human rights at sea alongside international maritime professionals.
“The need for informed leading maritime professionals to help drive forward the human rights at sea narrative has never been more important to assure transparency and independence of thought leadership, law and policy development,” HRASI said in a statement.
“It is a great honor and privilege to join the ranks of human rights at sea advocates — dignified people who share the noble intention of promoting HRAS through policy development and philanthropic activities. As a daughter of a seafarer, a maritime journalist, and a Coast Guard Auxiliary volunteer, I have always placed our seafarers and the marine environment in high respect and regard, and I am committed to advocate for their rights and welfare using the capabilities and connections that I have.
“I believe that multilateral efforts from all stakeholders and governments, as well as raising awareness on the importance of Human Rights at Sea can significantly help prevent abuses and exploitation of seafarers’ rights. With this new role, I am confident that we can all work together towards the realization of this advocacy,” Yashika said.
