Yashika is a maritime journalist, author, public speaker, broadcaster, and a marine environment volunteer.
Her exposure with the Philippine maritime industry spans 18 years of covering the shipping, manning, maritime education and training, maritime security, and marine environment sectors.
Hailing from a family of seafarers, Yashika extends her passion for the sea by volunteering with the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA). For the past 14 years of membership, she has been appointed on District and National offices for Public Information, Education and Training, and Protocol. She was promoted to the rank of Auxiliary Commodore in 2024.

Yashika also serves as a Subject Matter Expert and Guest Lecturer with the Coast Guard Education Training and Doctrines Command (CGETDC) and the PCGA.
Today, she writes for the Maritime Section of the oldest extant English-language newspaper, The Manila Times. She also writes for FAS Maritime, a magazine publishing in-depth feature stories about the maritime industry.
